Free-Artists is a decentralized crowdsourcing platform for creative projects, facilitating revenue & perks distribution for all contributors in a creative project.
Spark + Mint worked closely with the founding team to establish a brand vision that would be approachable, inclusive and spirited brand that would put the people being the art at the core with FA being the support system for reaching their goals.
Given how early the company was from a competitive standpoint within the global marketplace in the context of Music & Art Related DAO’s, our team dove into this emerging space for inspiration and creative signals regarding trends and styles that might be already owned or secured so we could carve our own path.
Like many Web3 brands everything felt quite up for grabs, but overall - there seemed to be a dichotomy between very high tech, sharp and futuristic brands on the one hand, with very raw, grunge/punk and street/art vibes on the other end of the spectrum. These styles may be provocative, but they aren’t necessarily inviting or brands that evoke feelings of trust, security and connection.
Following our market research and lateral thinking - we came up with 3 thematic directions to futher guide and define the Free Artists Brand. Each direction has something unique and “ownable” that we like about it and each, with the right approach - could open to door to lots of creative campaigns, artifacts and messaging.

The product itself has gone through many iterations and changes since the brand launch, but Spark + Mint worked closely with the product team to demonstrate how the brand should play out within the user experience and where the opportunities existed for the brand voice and personality to shine through.

Both Chris & Harrison are committed to building a product that empowers artists initiate, fund and grow their projects and every decision they make has those interests at heart. Following the closure of some of the BETA projects that have leveraged their product and ecosystem, they’ll be exploring how to continue to evolve the brand and product to meet its original intentions.
Free Artists is Currently working with artists like Shontelle to fund her creative projects. Shontelle is a Grammy nominated singer/songwriter known for global classics “T-Shirt” and “Impossible”. President Barack Obama personally selected her song Battle Cry for his campaign compilation, "Yes We Can.” and she’s toured with Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, T Pain, and Jason Derulo. Working with successful artists like Shontelle will help Free Artists uncover the strengths and opportunities of it’s brand and platform for artists worldwide.
